I see it similarly to you, but it has been rejected so far because the pantry would then have no window. However, I will definitely bring it up for discussion again. The staircase issue does not bother me.
Unfortunately, I don’t understand the last paragraph....
I would have kicked your wife out a long time ago, money or no money. She gets her pantry! She gets a nice damn hallway and she gets walkways to the island. What she doesn’t get is counter space next to the oven and fridge. Instead, she gets a window in the pantry that will always be tilted open, letting in cold air and also burglars who will love your protected entrance.
Seriously: you are surely building with controlled residential ventilation?! So why the window?
My last sentence refers to your hallway, which would have a nice wall of closets across its entire width if the house were as wide in the south as it is in the north. Because of the bay window on the east, the front door is where it is now and cannot be moved 50 cm further to the left as per the plan, so that there would be space for a closet there. Instead, the wardrobe will be arranged in the middle of the house, so you spread the dirt from outside around.
The laundry chute makes no sense to me at all: from the dressing room? Into the freezer room? I totally agree with Kerstin: it must be equally accessible to all and should close off into the utility room.
Personally, the dining area would be too long for me. I would be concerned that it becomes uncomfortable.
I would extend the garage roof on the north side beyond the door.
