That’s how I had thought about it too. But yesterday I showed my wife a photo of a kitchen island arranged like that. She wasn’t enthusiastic. Personally, I do like the orientation towards the garden.My idea:

why no enthusiasm, I always find it annoying when people cannot justify their opinion? that way you can look at the garden while working.... but no matter which direction the island is planned, access to the garden is still provided

For her it seems too "wild", I would like it best if the kitchen could be placed at the top left.
