Switch for roller shutters on the window or on the door?

The switch belongs next to the door because it serves the same function as the light. You want to control something like that centrally and not go around every window.

We will probably control all the roller shutters exclusively from the door. I also don’t find anything "ugly" about having many switches next to each other. Only in the open kitchen-living area are we currently considering whether to install individual switches next to the windows and a central switch for all windows in the room next to the door, but we are still discussing that with the electrician. In the other rooms, however, it will remain exclusively with the switches next to the door, that is completely sufficient for us (for us, electric roller shutters are already a luxury anyway ). We will not automate anything, except for the wind guard for the blinds.

Central switch and other control of the roller shutters by voice via Alexa. Works great with our roller shutters.

Morning Steffen,

I don't quite understand that now. You have a house worth 2 million (which I would love to have too) and your wife can hear the fridge while watching TV?
That would be harsh.

On-topic: I think a switch by the door would be practical. But if I have, say, 5-6 windows in one room, it naturally becomes a bit confusing which switch belongs to which window. Then better at the window itself. However, I also find it would be comfortable near the couch.

I think it depends on the number of windows in the room.

In the bedroom, you can have one switch next to the bed and another at the door.
In the living room with many windows, it gets tricky.

That is indeed very annoying. We specifically bought a new fridge and there is none that is quieter (according to the paperwork). But open living space and CURRENT* side-by-side kitchen cabinets is unfortunately not such a good combination. Today I would only install a built-in fridge and we will change that at some point as well.

Regards, Steffen

* due to some new refrigerant, current devices tend to "whistle". The internet is full of corresponding reports..

Switch at the window, e.g. for individual shading, and a central switch that opens or closes all
