If you already have positive images of your basement in your head, then you probably can only get them out by building it. I just couldn't follow the argument of using it as an alternative TV room.that I already have the finished rooms in my head with pool table in the basement, pantry with wooden shelves, nicely lit straight staircase,...
Cozy basement rooms are priced roughly like living rooms; a possible "discount" for the lack of a green view is not convincing. And you can't spontaneously retreat to the classic ice cave basement to watch TV because the other guests have arrived; you have to know a few hours in advance for heating reasons. In the classic basement, you also have to heat against the utility space architecture; otherwise, it feels "cooler" despite sufficient heat. And the party basement from the times when I was young, in my opinion, rightly belongs to the cemetery of history.
I actually belong to the faction "when in doubt, rather with a basement," but when I read that the geological predisposition of the property tends rather against it, I prefer to warn against probably trading a relatively low "efficiency" in terms of living enjoyment for the building costs here.
