So, once again. I am a layperson in this field. We definitely have an idea of how our house should look, but we are not set in stone or anything like that / so if the "perfect" floor plan for me here has gaps and flaws, I am very happy to look at it, evaluate it, and possibly take it into consideration. That is why I am also grateful for any suggestions, preferably now rather than when the house is already standing. The main sticking point here was that the architect a) wanted to push through his concept (cube, kitchen,...), b) was disappointed that we only made progress in small steps, and c) that the floor plans here were so much better than those of the architect. That gave us something to think about.

If you actually told him that, it explains his displeasure.

That was in reference to the stacked pumpkins. That pretty much made everything difficult for us because of the shape...

Something like that?

The child is already in the well now, I’m afraid. The relationship is wrecked. The matter wasn’t for nothing either; experience is valuable too. Next time you will be more careful with the commissioning and also more precise with the selection.

Something like that, so to speak, yes
As said: All good, expensive tuition fees, many insights, a bit annoying but it is what it is

Regarding a) You were initially enthusiastic about the kitchen, at least that’s how I remember it. And I’m not sure whether he really wanted to push through his concept, which brings us to b) what disappointment do you mean regarding progress in small steps? Do you expect the architect to hit the mark with the first draft? If that’s the case, you have to go to a prefab house provider and choose a standard floor plan. With an architect, you develop your floor plan. And that can take a while. For us, the whole process took almost 8 months. Although the first draft already matched our ideas quite quickly. But we tried out so many things. Friends of ours even had almost a 15-month planning phase...
And regarding c) they weren’t that much better, some were partly a further development of the architect’s plans, and that could have been achieved with the architect too.
Again, these are laypeople involved here and you allow yourself to be prompted to such a step, the separation from the architect? I’m expecting an exciting construction phase...
