But you still always walk past the foot of the bed directly, if you forgot something you go back and start again. I find this door unnecessary and, as I said, the first plan was much better. We enter the "sleeping area" through the dressing room; to the left is the bed, to the right the master bathroom, so you don’t have to go back to or past the bed after getting up. Since I sometimes have later shifts and can stay in bed a bit longer, this has proven to be an advantage; I’m glad it’s the way it is. In addition, your plan includes that hidden, cozy feeling. For me (!) that is totally positive; others might feel confined by it, so it’s entirely subjective to assess and depends on your perception.

Good point, noted

I understand (with the second door) but then additionally a third door to the bathroom?
I find a two-door solution in the bathroom a bit exhausting, or am I misunderstanding?

In the end, I have to make sure both doors are always locked and I find that a bit exhausting.

You misunderstand me, I did not talk about the bathroom at your place. I meant one door to the dressing room is enough, from which you then reach the bedroom. There is no need for another door there! Even shorter: build it like in post #192

Isn't that awesome! Although it always depends on how you design your dressing room: messy or a la Sex in the City

Even though I am probably too late and everyone likes the corner/ corner doors between the living room & kitchen/ dining room.

How cool would it be to simply leave them out, especially with the beautiful staircase. Yes, of course everything is open but I would really love something like that in terms of the feeling of the space.

I'm just positively biased. I just like something open like that.

I totally agree with you I would shorten the hallway and only separate it a bit with a short freestanding wall (for example exactly where the passage between dining/living room is now or in front of the basement stairs).
