Have you already read that the clients have unilaterally terminated the contract here?

And have you already read that the OP offered to start over again and the architect refused?

So an attitude from the architect really gives the whole thing a bitter aftertaste, I didn't expect that. Of course, we only know the situation from one side, maybe the family is actually the client from hell, but it doesn't seem that way to me. If the architect now comes with reluctance, I would really make a lean offer. Here, 5k or we'll see each other in court, please, thank you. In return, he should hand over all the work done. The whole process wasn't worthless after all, so don't try to get upset, but see it as a not entirely cheap crash course on house planning.

Yes, I have. Full understanding for the architect. One can probably still preserve a little dignity.

...or just the quick money ... just to make it clear again: The whole process started on 14.8...

Well, it has little to do with dignity. Performing poorly and then charging the full amount... I don't know, he did do something, but he wasn't able to reach a satisfactory result with the client. In my opinion, he failed because of that. Let’s assume that is not the easiest client in the world, but he is also not the most impossible. Now playing the offended artist and wanting to charge the full amount for the entire duration... nope, that doesn’t fit. As said, , either completely refuse from the start and wait for the court, or offer an ‘lesson learned’ fee that is acceptable to you.
