Have you ever lived in a house with a gallery? Unfortunately not; however, in my opinion it naturally looks great when you have a light-flooded house on the ground floor and upper floor. I myself also have concerns that it might be disturbing later if it is not soundproof. However, my wife is not very enthusiastic when I bring up the gallery in the discussion (or want to take it away from her).

There is no privacy there. Especially with children. Food smells, conversations, TV sounds, children’s screams, children’s music, etc. are perfectly carried from bottom to top and vice versa. Not to forget, you are sitting comfortably with guests in the conservatory having a sip of wine and the possibly pubescent child then has to quickly pass the gallery in pajamas, shirt, with a towel to get to the bathroom (or vice versa).
I would do without the gallery and instead somehow plan a children’s bathroom. Gallery with children is wasted space - my opinion.

Yes, the stairs will be converted into a landing staircase - we agreed on that in the last meeting.

So we have 187 m² and 4 full rooms (~16m²) on the upper floor and a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom (is that how you write it? in any case with a small separate shower room accessible only from the bedroom) on the ground floor. Our living-dining-cooking area is 55 m² (somewhere you have to save square meters ). We also have a utility room of about 8 m² on both the ground floor and the upper floor. However, the bathroom on the upper floor is smaller for us.

If that meets your requirements and you have the money for it, I find the floor plan nice. What I would still change is the dressing room and bedroom – rather have the bedroom as a trapped room and the dressing room as a "bridge" to the bathroom. The sequence dressing room – bathroom – dressing room – bathroom etc. will occur more often than having to go back into the bedroom again. Besides, then you don’t disturb the one still sleeping in the bedroom while someone is getting ready.

Yes, the bedroom is also a topic. I would also rather place the bed in the current dressing room and make a dressing room and master bathroom out of the bedroom. But my wife doesn’t want any sloping ceilings in the bedroom. I believe our knee wall would be somewhere around 1.30 meters and reach the 2 meter line in the bedroom quite early.

I would like to ask you again for your opinion (suggestions for improvement) on the current drafts:

First of all, I would like to add the following information:

A kitchen in the southeast is a must for my wife because she likes to have the morning sun in the kitchen and wants to have a view of the street (which is to the east).

Regarding the suggestion by BeHaElJa to swap the dressing room and the bedroom: My wife definitely wants to sleep in a room without sloping ceilings and with a floor-to-ceiling window.

Children's bathroom: We want to keep the shower on the ground floor, the wife doesn't want to clean a third bathroom, and a laundry-shower room will be added in the basement later.

Basement: A watertight shell is mandatory and excavation is expensive in the Stuttgart area... therefore the architect suggested a partial basement. I think the house does not need more space. The budget limit is slowly but surely being reached.

Current thoughts on changes: See my corrections in red. I would like to take Yvonne’s suggestion into account again and straighten the living room a bit so that the terrace has fewer corners - in addition, this would also enlarge the storage room (hallway) somewhat.

For the bathroom, I would appreciate layout suggestions. The shower and sink should be spacious. I like the current arrangement of the furniture / sanitary facilities less.
