Thanks for the constructive feedback, we can work with that ... why minimum 2.50 when we don’t even want the sink on the island?

The cooktop is at the edge of the island, with the countertop space next to it. Also, grease constantly splatters on the floor. You don't yet know that you don't want the sink on the island. Unfortunately, we only have the cooktop on the island, which is not optimal. When draining canned goods and pasta, rinsing eggs, etc., the floor gets splattered every time.

I can only confirm that having both on the island is very practical. However, I could also imagine it being just as practical to have the sink directly behind the cooking island.

We also placed our cooktop at the edge (18cm) and so far I can live with it very well. Sure, if I had been able to do it, 25/30cm would be better. For us, it still works.

Our island is 2.82x1.2m.

Best regards

We consciously decided on a sink and work island after consultation. The cooktop is either positioned with your back to it or the sink is slightly offset against the wall.

After now 2 years in the house, we are still enthusiastic and would always prefer this to a pure cooking island.

You spend so much more time preparing than actually cooking at the cooktop. Therefore, I will never understand the faction that uses this as an argument for a "sociable" cooking island.

but precisely during preparation many do not want to stand in front of a wall or window they can't really look out of, but rather look into the room. With a sink at the wall, you can very well wash everything in the first step, then (next to the stove) prepare on the island facing the room, gradually filling the cooking pot.
For me, for example, the sink is where the dirt is collected. When I'm done preparing, I turn to the dirt and choose between the trash and handwashing, e.g. knives or boards.
During preparation, the island is relatively tidy and clearly arranged with the future food, behind me is what remains.

Ultimately, only the one who really spends time there effectively can plan their kitchen.
