If a gable roof is added now, you should post the views again. I fear that might look a bit odd. I'm not a symmetry fanatic, but crooked and uneven windows in the gable are not exactly great, unless it's going to be a Hundertwasser house.

My childhood room also had a balcony; my parents had bought an existing property. The only thing it was used for was my secret cigarette... I can't estimate the construction costs, but it must have cost a few thousand, right? And what is the child supposed to do on it? And the other child is disadvantaged and has no balcony, I find that unfair.

I am considering using the garage as a terrace, but I am encountering resistance...

The elevations are not final yet. So far, we have focused on a version that can be approved. Windows on the ground floor/basement are symmetrical or harmonious in the presentation; we have looked at that. Gable roof? We were thinking more of a flat hipped roof?!

Have actually switched from a flat roof to a hipped roof.

I also see a hipped roof in the floor plan.
