As of today. The architect has informed us that we can still change the views / windows. The only restriction after submitting the building application is the scope of the building structure.

Quick question: Do you actually see a problem with implementing a freestanding island kitchen? We are currently considering rotating the kitchen 90° compared to the current setup.

Would it then be "in the way"? What do you think?

I would then add a window / light strip / skylight somewhere.. This feels too "dark" to me otherwise?

See no difference between 1 and 2. However, I think so many cabinets are exaggerated. Of course, you can rotate the island as you like. I would also change the doors right away:

I liked the original plan better. With the island in the middle, it looks to me as if you always have to snake around this island when moving from one kitchen unit to the other. How much space is there between the window/sink workspace and the island?

And how wide is the island in the proposal? Looks like 60cm, that doesn't make sense.

Island is good with an L or I, with a U it can quickly get hectic
