That today’s youth are no longer ’68ers’ has certainly arrived with us oldies ;-)... or as a teenager has parents who somehow didn’t understand that privacy/intimacy at this age is a very high good.
That’s a good idea, I know it no other way, and that way you remain reachable for an emergency rescue that hopefully occurs rarely. An emergency medical intervention is not a regular case – most bathroom uses proceed without concern – but is also no ’privilege’ of the ’older.’My three also leave all doors unlocked. But it is a matter of course to knock or ask if you may come in. The question of locking doors has never arisen there.
