But Child 1 will be hard to furnish there, right? At least a taller wardrobe will be tight.

I don’t think so. The ceiling shows 2.50, with over 19 sqm there are possibilities. But yes, of course the walls still need to be finalized. At the moment it looks tighter than it can be. The challenge here is more to bring the WC, pantry, and stairs in harmony with the vestibule; everything else sorts itself out… we still have two months to finalize ;)

Hmm what would bother me downstairs is that the dining room is now planned relatively far away from the kitchen, while the living room is directly connected to the kitchen. For me, kitchen and dining area belong together, with the living room ideally somewhat separated.

Upstairs there is a lot of hallway, or actually two hallways, although the latter in the end at least doesn't take up so much space anymore. But I can't really remember the discussion anymore about why it has to be that way

This clearly shows why I don’t like the design at all. Lots of space, but it is neither used economically nor does it look luxurious. Except for the gallery, although I question its usefulness given the amount of living space on the ground floor. The gallery consumes so much space that the adjacent rooms hardly go beyond the classic one-and-a-half-story single-family house with a normal budget and those typical sloped roof bricolages. With this budget, I would expect more, especially for the upper floor area. For example, a real walk-in dressing room instead of just walk-in closet rows. If I interpret the plan correctly: 180 sqm of floor space and a bedroom of just under 17 sqm don’t match for me.

Would it be an option to build the [Einliegerwohnung] over two floors? This way, you narrow the floor plan downstairs to townhouse width and thereby have railroad apartment layouts for both units. I would try a design where the [Einliegerwohnung] has the kitchen and living area downstairs and the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. As an inserted cube in the main house, so that it has more of an L shape as the basic form.

I would probably rather not do that. It requires an additional staircase, and the apartment is initially intended for the longer visits of parents/in-laws. There could also be a staircase problem.

There remain 670 cm width for the pure living/dining/kitchen area. No technology, no wardrobe, etc. needs to be accommodated there. When I look at my dining/kitchen room with 7x4.10 m, I find 670 cm width already very generous.
