So, looking at the wardrobe when relaxing in the living room in the evening is not a good idea.
Why would anyone want to look at their winter shoes? Or the yellow bag or beverage crate that are temporarily parked there.
Or why should your wife's female visitors want to see you slouching on the sofa in front of the TV with chips when saying goodbye in the evening?! …
Yes, I understand. In terms of architecture, not a big deal (just paint the glass). We actually liked the glass corridor - something different. But the downside of the living room view is indeed valid. I will discuss that again with my wife.
Do interior designers show you the best way to sit at your TV?
Of course not. The job of the interior designer is more to incorporate our personalities and preferences and then create a concept based on that. I actually find the idea charming because I don’t believe we can achieve a perfect coherent concept inside the property ourselves (especially given the time constraints). The designer could be on board from the start, give tips during sample selection, create renderings, simplify furniture choice, and much more. We are currently listening to 2-3 companies.
My suggestion: there should be a partition wall between the staircase and hallway upstairs. I think that would also look better from below. In my opinion, there are two possibilities for that.
I am not sure if I am getting the idea right. The wall here borders directly to the parents’ bedroom. So I think you mean an additional wall at the staircase to the kids/office, right? At the moment I don’t see any further soundproofing towards the parents’ bedroom.
Besides, I would swap the living room with the kitchen again.
My wife and I have already discussed this for hours and the decision is pretty final. We spend more time in the kitchen than in the living room. We like the proximity to the terrace. The kitchen is also somewhat more enclosed (which we like). We already like the arrangement as it is very much.
