I just skimmed through the thread and was reminded of my first living situation in my own four walls.
Also here the neighbor who played loud music in the garden at every opportunity, who also had such a loud voice that you were inevitably forced to listen in on every phone call and other conversations.
Friendliness and good reasoning promised no success.
Fortunately, I didn't watch that for long and struck back with the same weapons. From then on, loud music played on our terrace facing the neighbor, from morning till evening. It didn't take long until he "called on us." As a token of gratitude for us stopping our noise, there was hardly any music to be heard in his garden at the same time.
For many, it is just like that: they only react when they themselves are faced with the same problems.

When I read things like this, I slowly start to get scared. We also like to listen to music and I won’t let anyone forbid me from that. Of course, not with a lot of bass and very loud. Personally, I find overly sensitive neighbors at least just as bad as the excessively loud ones.

And to add a story and volume. In the student fraternity where I lived as a student, we had a Georgian. Since we have a very large and beautiful garden in the center of Hanover, he often made phone calls in the garden. One day the police were called because the neighbor feared it was a dispute and a fight might break out. When the police arrived, they found the Georgian "normally" talking on the phone with his mother...

Yes, some people have loud voices, you just have to live with that. Some don’t look good in bikinis or with a bare upper body (I don’t exclude myself). But that’s not why I go up to that person and ask them to get dressed again.

I always think of the older people who complain about playgrounds and children's noises in situations like this.

If you can still hear the music very well outdoors 300 meters away, it is too loud and has nothing to do with sensitivity.
And hearing bass is unpleasant and annoying. No idea why that is. Some frequencies are quieter outside than inside the house. In the rental apartment, the tenant above me complained about bass. I thought it was me. It was quiet at my place. The source was the apartment below me.

Wow, something is coming up again after such a long time (-:
I haven't been around here for a while and only recently found out that you are building new … yeah, amazing …
Where can I find the thread where I can read how you got a new plot and what you’re doing differently with the building this time?
Neighbors can simply be so annoying.

No one forbids anyone to listen to music that no one else hears except the music lover.

IF you did it for hours at a volume that others can also perceive, it would indeed be appropriate to listen more quietly. I consider that to be common courtesy.

I assume you see it exactly that way – but this here: “… I won’t let anyone forbid me to do that.“ sounds a bit “late adolescent,” to quote . This attitude is wrong if you disturb others with the music. And music is not comparable to children’s noise at all. Mainly because it’s voluntary and has an on/off switch.

Anyone who really considers frequent music listening an essential quality of life must also provide appropriate soundproofing themselves, no matter what. That’s just good manners.

That was said in general, not against you!

With us and the plot width of 20m, it is difficult to listen to music so quietly (in the garden) that others do not notice it.

Ordinary people usually work during the week. So listening to music is only possible in spring/summer and mostly on weekends. And yes, it is part of my life.

I put forward another thesis. Whoever knows that they are very sensitive to volume should deal with their own soundproofing in their own walls. We are not talking about constant noise, but about occasionally playing music in the garden, for example when guests are there. And this is already considered disturbing here, which I find alarming...
