I don't have to understand what is so bad about music to accept that someone finds it unpleasant. I can choose to be considerate, even if I don't fully understand what exactly is going on. No one loses anything when neighbors look out for each other and come to a mutual arrangement where they communicate. This doesn't have to mean "never music when one is outside," nor "always music when the other is in the garden."
I absolutely agree with you. I would also be the last person not to look for a solution when there are complaints. But I would not accept a blanket ban on listening to music on my terrace sometimes. But I don't think anyone would demand that either. As so often in life, it's about the dose and the "how."
I think it would also bother me a lot if my neighbor basically had music playing outside all day long.
