: I really feel for you right now, we have a noisy neighbor stomping around above us and my only bright spot is the move into the house in winter... and your neighbor would be my worst nightmare. I feel the same way as you, I myself very rarely listen to music and I can't stand the constant noise from others any more than you can, especially when it's music I don't like... I just can't tune it out and it really makes you sick over time. Unfortunately, many people are different in that regard and always want to listen to music and feel restricted when asked not to have something playing all the time. With a former roommate, headphones were actually the solution because she saw how exhausted the constant noise was making me. She was surprised but somehow could understand that there are people who really need peace to be able to recover. That's why, if I were you, I would really try to have a conversation and be very, very clear about how it affects you, without making accusations (as you can see with Bookstar many find it nice and totally normal in the garden), but ask if they could perhaps move the music listening indoors where you can't hear it in the garden so you both can enjoy your homes. Moving would be my absolute last resort because it’s so hard to find something new and I think that neighbors should always try to consider how things might be for others when they go all out. Nobody would cut wood for 8 hours straight even if they were allowed to, somehow people know that others have different music tastes and that it’s not the same as dogs or children, which are part of normal life. I can't really say anything about your actual question, but I wanted to at least tell you that you’re not the only one who feels this way about music and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you find a solution!
