Where does the assumption that constant noise is happening come from?

If someone undresses, others look. That’s nothing new. The discussion can be ended unilaterally at any time.

In the spirit of compromise, I would firmly insist on Sunday quiet and leave him Saturday.

The wall, even if only 2m high, I would still try. Definitely better than no wall and above all cheaper than selling.

What could the walls be made of? I find a brick wall nice (visually), but it is neither particularly massive nor especially cheap.

I sold my condominium after only one year because the neighbors were incredibly annoying. At the same time, I expanded and moved part of my work to my new house. I also received plenty of strange looks for selling so quickly. So what, it was the best decision ever. It was totally worth it, just not financially. But I didn’t care and still don’t. I never shed a tear over the lost money. You simply make the best possible decision at every moment. And afterwards you see that you didn’t consider something or things turned out differently than expected. I would first (again?) talk to the neighbor, and if that doesn’t help, just start looking for alternatives. It’s not a big deal, even if you end up making a loss. As long as you can live off your (remaining and ongoing) money, that’s not so bad.

Thanks for this post. It’s simply nice to see that someone has already taken this path and was not unhappy with the decision. I can only agree with the idea of making the best possible decision at the respective moment. For example, I was often advised to consider a semi-detached house, staying in the city. I always said that a semi-detached house was out of the question for me because I don’t want to hear anything from neighbors. I never want to lie in the bathroom again and be annoyed by the adjoining neighbor’s bathroom. That’s why I always wanted only a detached house. We previously lived for almost 10 years renting a detached house. The neighborhood was similarly densely built, but there were no neighbors around who stood in their garden with radio music. I never had these problems. Therefore, it would never have occurred to me in my dreams that there could be a problem with the neighbors in our new build here.

Then she should seek treatment and not try to change the whole world around her...

Then you have to find a way to "test out" such a fence or wall. Keep your eyes open: you might find a wall to test at playgrounds, parks, churches, etc. If necessary, a garage will also work. Then compare that with the wooden fence. Maybe you can even borrow the neighbor’s sound system :D But jokes aside: I really think you need to take the soundproofing issue seriously. Besides this experiment, a professional consultation should be able to tell you what is achievable and what is not. Even if that is somewhat abstract, you can at least prepare yourself for it. I would also spend money on this consultation right away. Become active instead of just being annoyed and giving in to the flight reflex (new house).
