For me, a garden means relaxation through calmness and natural sounds. I find the rustling of leaves, birdsong, etc., very soothing and good for unwinding from everyday stress. However, when the soundscape is undermined by music, my relaxation is gone. On good days, I can tolerate it but not relax. On bad days, I go to a room where I don’t have to perceive it.
Apparently, the neighbor relaxes best with music in the garden. The only solution where we both could find relaxation would be if he listened to his music alone. That is only in his hands, but apparently, he does not want that. There are indeed many people who live by the motto "if everyone thinks of themselves, everyone is thought of."
