Yes, I would like to try that when the next opportunity arises. So far, I haven’t dared yet. Finding a suitable, new property quickly isn’t easy either; you have to stay realistic.

You said you would even buy your neighbor good headphones. Wouldn't it then be an option to wear them yourself? These Noisekilling parts? I mean...for me that wouldn't be an option, but if you see it as an option for the neighbor, maybe it would be an option for you?

Yeah, that could work as a temporary solution. In the long term, though, I would prefer to be able to enjoy a garden. We haven't all lived here for long, a lot is still under construction, so many people are often working around the house. But right now, almost every time I want to sit in the garden, there is music playing. And in the future, to enjoy my property, I would occasionally like to sit in the garden and hear only the birds / the nature. Basically other normal sounds on the porch that are not music. With noise-cancelling headphones, apart from the loss of comfort of having something on your head, the natural sounds are also lost.

So we live pretty much the way you wish. And I can assure you that here in the countryside (next settlement about 2.5 km away, only forest and fields around, 1 house right next door but otherwise the next neighbor a good km away) you regularly hear music, especially on weekends or in the evenings during the summer/spring months. Corona slowed it down a bit but soNest is also standard here. Especially the bass sometimes carries for kilometers depending on the wind. And because of all the clubs and so on, there are often parties with music. I don't want to talk you out of it, but before you maybe have too romantic notions about living in the countryside, it’s often like this here too. And I can relate so well to your problem, but for me it’s not music but traffic noise, which fortunately feels easier to avoid. Best regards and all the best for your further path

I guess that stumbles over the fact that you are looking for ways out instead of fighting the cause, and it doesn't sound good if the "noise," which is no longer there, keeps you from sleeping.

Be that as it may:

I would wait a bit with a sales plan, because it sounds like the neighbor needs work noise, that is, while he is landscaping the garden.
Maybe his droning will be silent when he is finished?
I also always have the radio on while I’m working; at home, nothing is on.
Does he have daytime free time or does he sometimes have to work as well?

Oh, I love that! Really! I feel like I’m on vacation then :)

The absolute best and most valuable contribution in this thread, I would gladly give ten likes.

I would definitely also prefer to have the conversation. You can also tell from the reactions here that for a not insignificant part of humanity it is inconceivable how much the situation burdens you. You probably need to be really clear with your neighbor. If no solution can be found then, you can still pull the emergency brake and look for something else.

PS: I understand you very well. For example, I also find it highly surprising how anyone can jog with music – I can only run to the rhythm. Side stitches guaranteed.
