What is there not to understand? You spend a small fortune on soundproof windows/-roller shutter boxes ... but surely you enjoy your garden from spring ...? I am amazed again and again by some discussions about sound insulation ... as if no window were ever opened ... enjoyed leisure time outside ...? For the same reason, I also don't understand every requirement of a development plan ;) Rhineland regards

I believe Bauexperte wants to say that the requirement must also match the product... if you live on a highway, 49 dB may be correct - but on a village street, definitely not anymore.

Sure, I will definitely chill in the garden; during the day, it doesn't really matter, but for me specifically, it's about the fact that noises from trains that might run in the middle of the night do not penetrate inside when sleeping.

In addition to soundproofing, Controlled Residential Ventilation has therefore also been made a requirement in bedrooms. Keyword window opening.

However, we would do it the same way even without the requirements because we consider it right for us.

I lived - until a few weeks ago - in the house where I was born a little more than half a century ago.

In my early years there was little traffic, during elementary school times it increased - when attending high school I could regularly catch up on sleep on the - back then still two-lane - A46. In recent years traffic has increased enormously - thanks to self-proclaimed environmentalists, the planned bypass has been prevented for years (the Erft is to be returned to its original bed); I have always slept well.

What I want to say is this - we humans quickly get used to ambient noises; surely you too to regularly running trains ;)

Rhenish greetings

Not everything labeled as noise is noise! You also don't wake up because of a _distant_ passing train if it runs every night.

But every person has a different fear threshold ;)

We did not agree on the topic of burglary protection and will probably not agree on soundproofing either. That’s ok. :)

Sure, you get used to many things, but even noise that doesn’t bother you can still make you sick. And our property is located in noise level area 5, meaning outside noise levels of 71-75 dB. Through our measures, we reduce this value to about 20-25 dB inside. For comparison:

20 decibels: ticking of a wristwatch
30 decibels: whispering

The requirement is a reduction of 45 dB in living rooms and 50 dB in bedrooms. The 50 dB will still be tight for us.

Regards
