Isn’t it annoying with the angled hallway... I was mentally trying to change/improve it when I see the bathroom/bedroom configuration. For a new build, a cramped no-go.

I don't like standard floor plans in 2D either. But ultimately, they almost always look good in 3D with corresponding customized fittings and interiors from the client. The problem is probably that you want to make something different out of a common wheel. And instead of a nicer rim, you put corners on the wheel. And you can argue about it all you want – the wheel is no longer common. You accept the bumpy ride because it's your idea. But it's still rubbish.

Do you know what bothers me here: everyone just writes that it's rubbish. The mentioned example floor plans do not meet the requirements, which is then casually dismissed: it just has to be adapted, it's only a basis. When I adapt it, I always end up where I am now. And honestly, whether the door to the hallway is now in the dressing room or in the bathroom, that doesn't fundamentally change anything about the floor plan....... Really constructive people are few here. Very few. That's a shame.

How are you supposed to be helped constructively if you don’t even have the slightest idea of what you want and need? I want a bungalow, but I also want a straight staircase. Kitchen and dining room are our living focus, but much more important is that I have peace while watching TV when someone is working around the living focus. Children have almost moved out. Well, almost anyway, they might stay for a short time. Or one might move in directly with husband and child. Who really knows that for sure. Quite a few variables, right? Now we’re changing from “2 small children’s rooms are enough” to “we need a separate apartment upstairs.” Of course, that should have a proper bathroom and its own kitchen.

Are they still current? Because it also says: "Familiensituation ist: Kinder bald aus dem Haus." According to another post of yours, the daughter will apparently stay with you permanently. The future partner surely does not want to live with parents-in-law in one apartment, so a granny flat will probably be needed?
