: He is IN THE MIDDLE of planning, so I don't understand your criticism. Sure, the beginning was a bit confusing, but he is also asking for suggestions and input. The size of the utility room belongs in this as well. Nothing has happened yet... Because that is exactly what an architect usually plans far too small. An architect is not always perfect either. Many people find it enough to visit model home parks to get a feel for room sizes, storage spaces, etc. That would be my first advice to you as well.

Exactly. That has been the case since mid-May and longer. But it raises questions that one has to deal with beforehand. He still wants to build his house, not a forum house. So you do him no favor by spoon-feeding him. That is a waste of time! For him, not for us. That is the wrong way, and I am not the one who supports him on the wrong path. It is comparable to an alcoholic whom you support with money so he can drown his shaking again. Building a house is too expensive for that.

No, no. Those are generalizations, ypg. I have
- looked at the room sizes in about 100 model homes, especially the utility room
- currently have a utility room of about 10 sqm, which I find too small

My conclusion from this: I plan at least 15 sqm for the utility room.

Now Alessandro and you come with a smaller utility room in the plan. I have repeatedly stated the requirement for plenty of storage space and a utility room here. At the same time, you tell me: I have no sense of room sizes. So my conclusion from this: I have no idea, and a small utility room is enough. And now I take this criticism for myself, I have no idea, I have no spatial awareness, I should rely on architects, etc. and just because I question the size of the utility room I am once again clueless and want to push *my* plan through. Nope. all clear.

so for hanging laundry it would be more comfortable to make the utility room a bit longer towards the bottom of the plan. My utility room is just under 13 sqm. But there is also a shower inside! It is almost square and there is plenty of space to hang laundry.

So what? You keep seeing things, and new ideas come to mind that would be practical and sensible. Especially the space requirements in the utility room are very unclear to a layperson! And planning since mid-May is not a problem either. A proper house needs to be planned properly. That can often take 1.5 years.

The utility room in the model homes is sufficient for the building services and maybe a shelf and a washer and dryer stacked on top of each other.

We have a small utility room of 7 or 8 sqm on the upper floor. Laundry basket, sink with some cabinet, washer and dryer. A drying rack still fits in and that’s it. Ironing becomes too tight for me. It works if it has to.
Building services and tools are on the ground floor.
