Yes, totally. I didn’t expect it at all, but I was all the more happy about it. So, in the conversation, it was said that the saddled variant would cost us about 2000 euros extra and that there would be no difference whether it was mortised or saddled. With this information, we then went to the next sample selections, for which we had set a total limit of 15,000. Unfortunately, the offer only came after all the other sample selections were done, and suddenly it was 3,500 for the mortised and almost 5,000 for the saddled variant.
For us, it was a combination. But the price is really amazing :oops:
We had offers for: stock wood painted white as mortised stringer with risers vs. glued wood for saddled staircase (with the glued wood, you can still see the structures through the color; with a mortised stringer, we wouldn’t have wanted that, with the saddled stringer we don’t care since our staircase is closed and it’s in the pantry underneath, so we don’t mind).
Also extra cost for the saddled variant with the somewhat less valuable wood - 500€
