Which staircase did you take?

So vinyl or something similar? We had already thought about that too, because we also want to lay vinyl in the upstairs hallway. We are also getting a concrete staircase, we don’t like tiles or granite, we want something with a wood look. Could you maybe tell me if covering it with design flooring is cheaper than "real" wood?

Yes, exactly Vinyl, it's called Wineo Honey Wood XL600 I think. For real wood, I had an offer that almost made me fall over. So I can't give you exact numbers since the staircase is only just about to start, but I think it will be cheaper than real wood.

Thank you! We have an offer for our staircase in [Buche naturbunt]. We do not yet have an offer for other wood, but it definitely should not be [Buche naturbunt]. So, additional significant surcharges may be expected. With handrail (no railing) and risers. Price: €3,900.

A staircase is a utility item. Of course, you try to handle it carefully, but smaller chips will not be avoidable. However, you will mostly find these on the stringers rather than on the treads (excluding stilettos on the stairs).

I can't tell you exactly, but for a simple walnut staircase it probably wouldn't have been less than five figures. However, we didn't pursue it further.
With our current staircase, from what I remember, we were between 4 and 5K€.

Even after 2.5 years, I still find our dark-stained staircase very elegant. The only downside is that the dark wood combined with a tall window in the background makes it very prone to dust and it is very slippery. After I initially slipped down twice, we decided after much back and forth on anti-slip strips. The look of the staircase was too precious for the usual carpet treads.

, I don't want to shock you. 4-5 k€ is still not really expensive... it can go much higher. We alone paid over 5k€ extra for the staircase during the selection process. But it also spans three floors, it's a half-landing staircase with stainless steel pins. So you can easily pay 5k€ per floor for the staircase. We just really didn't want a curved beech wood stringer staircase. That would have been included in the general contractor package. You get what you pay for.... Best regards, Andreas
