I think the staircase is already quite good for a standard staircase. The question is, what exactly do you not like about it? I can only say what we have done differently: The wood is ash instead of beech. We have added risers (so it is closed), the treads and handrail are painted light gray, the rest of the staircase is white oiled, which lets the beautiful grain show through with the ash. Posts and spindles are simple and also ash white oiled. If you have already thought about glass, then you apparently prefer a modern style? Then you could consider a metal staircase right away. The wire cables that mentioned would be an idea. Or maybe just paint the steps gray?

Yes, I have also seen them in ash/pine. super beautiful. But as I said, we could not participate in the decision. We are taking over the house technically finished as the developer has set it. I am not a "beech fan," for one. Just from the look. I also find the staircase a bit bulky. Of course, that is a purely matter of taste. In general, I really like the puristic Bauhaus style. Airy, light, simple. Hence the impractical idea with the glass panels. The house is quite small (120m2 without basement), so there will be many cabinets in the hallway, under the stairs, to create storage space. Hallway on the ground floor and upper floor logically very small, little light on the upper floor. (attached photo is NOT an original shot of our hallway) Therefore, I am looking for ideas to make the whole thing a bit airier. May I see a photo of your staircase? Working with colors would also be an option...

Unfortunately, it is not here yet, it is supposed to arrive this week. I will try to take a photo where something can be seen and then post it here. It will then be packed away again for the time being because we will still have craftsmen in the house...

We have EXACTLY this staircase, see photo. But it is not an original recording from our hallway. I don’t have a recording of that right now. Our hallway window is smaller.

We have EXACTLY this staircase. It's just not our hallway visible in the photo. I don't have a photo right now.
