I see no need for SAT, but that is a personal opinion reflecting our individual usage. During the second to last move, it took three months to hang up the TV, and in the new house, we haven't hung it up for a year (although it is still relatively modern and large). When I watch TV somewhere else and see all the advertising as well as the cheap shows repeated multiple times, I know that we are not missing anything in our lives. Sure, you can watch an exciting program from a media library on a tablet or phone from time to time, but the comatose constant entertainment with shallow formats is not missed by anyone in our household. Therefore, the HD card was not renewed in the last household, and in the new house, no SAT has been installed at all, and we do not use the provided IPTV either (that could be something to save on ))
If I were now such a power user as I sometimes see in the morning on the way to the train through windows passing by (TV as big as a wall and running since 6 a.m. and still on in the evening on the way back), I would probably connect both (SAT + IPTV). But studies tell a clear story: media consumption will become even more selective in the future, people assemble their own programs online and choose specifically what interests them. Fewer and fewer want a finished television program... Technologies that are only designed for the broadcasting of pre-made television programs will become extinct.
