Is satellite television still relevant?

When it comes to prices, you can only throw your hands up in despair.

But on the topic of SAT, it remains up to date for a long time.

Sat->IP is still in its infancy.

IPTV costs unnecessary money and you are dependent on the provider. (Two of my neighbors also thought IPTV was good) After 3 or 4 years, satellite dishes appeared on all the roofs.

In contrast, a satellite dish costs a one-time fee including wiring for 2-3 participants as much as a weekend shopping trip, so what is there left to consider?

If we still watched a lot of classic TV, we would probably have gotten a SAT system as well, but we don't, it's at most about 4 hours a week. Therefore, we simply added the smallest TV package from the pink giant to the fiber optic and have network cables in every room. That's been more than enough so far. If there are ever children, by the time they're old enough, it probably won't be of interest to them anymore. That's why I didn't want to have cables installed that I don't believe in anymore anyway.

But that's exactly inconsistent. IPTV costs you €10 per month? With the satellite system installed by yourself, it pays off after 2 years; if professionally installed, it takes 5 years.

The whole satellite stuff would have cost around €1000 with our electrician, leaving out the sockets for it brought another €200 savings. You can then watch for more than 10 years with that. Whether we will even need it then? Besides, those who value SAT-TV often also pay the monthly fee for HD+ to be able to watch the private channels in HD. At least everyone in our circle of acquaintances who still installed a satellite system on their roof has done that.

HD+ costs about the same across all distribution channels. Whoever needs it ...

1000€ is a rip-off, then you just take another one.

Another disadvantage of IPTV is the ease of use. Either the TV needs a suitable app or an external device is required, in the worst case a specific set-top box (Entertain?).

In our case here with FTTH, coaxial cabling is still needed, but it works with any device with a DVB-C tuner.

Whoever wants to circumcise themselves should do it. It is entirely up to each individual.
