House wiring LAN/SAT

It does sound like a bit of a hack.

Actual TV on the television (via DLNA) was not a hack. Switch on the SAT>IP converter and that's it. The converter is automatically recognized as a DLNA server.

The hack was with the tvstreamrecord on my NAS or my attempts to get TVHeadend running.

Exactly that. Today I can map network between computers and smartphones and SAT on it, tomorrow maybe IoT etc.
As long as the cables are GBit capable, I think you are quite well prepared for the future. And even if not: The cables are laid in empty conduits, so they can be replaced.

I simply have LAN and Sat everywhere. At the moment, the receiver/hdd recorder in the living room is not only connected to the TV but also streams to the network and can be controlled from any device (recording, playback, epg.., recording on nas). The overall convenience is quite high in my opinion and the configuration is pretty simple and fast.

It's just stupid that 95% of the broadcast time consists exclusively of lower-class couples, dumbed-down reports (the biggest machines in the world ...), old series, and advertisements. I don't let my children come into contact with that. The few shows and films that somewhat meet our standards are in [Mediatheks] or can be accessed on streaming services. Even after much thought, I wouldn't know what to record. Maybe sports or something, but I'm not familiar with that.

And your children are the ones who don't go to the neighbors to play but to watch TV instead, moreover, the level of Generation YouTube is much lower than that of the shows you mentioned.
