Is a satellite system still necessary in new buildings, or is IPTV sufficient?

Well, okay, if I get a beam holder on Amazon for 50€ and then charge around 220€ net for it. The installation can’t be that expensive, I think.

Yes, the whole roof is planned to be fully covered (which then makes a 9.9 system).

But to install everything later if needed, you would need — as already mentioned — an escape window to be able to mount the dish on the mast, especially if it’s near the ridge, so pretty high up, meaning just leaning a ladder won’t work. Therefore, the installation on the gable side on a visible wooden beam. It seemed the easiest and most uncomplicated to me.

Why an escape window? You take a ladder and remove the roof tiles. Then you just go up to the cables. I’ve just done that myself. Unpracticed it takes about 4-5 hours. And regarding price... Normal electrical dealers simply cannot compete with internet prices and therefore the price comparison isn’t really fair. So assume about 100€ for the purchase and then it still takes a good hour to properly install the thing. You want to make some profit too.

Um, a ladder and it has to reach up to the ridge. There - if - the dish has to face north. I stood on the scaffold today to see the ceiling from above. Was glad to have solid ground under my feet again and I wasn’t up high. Me with a ladder up to the ridge... um... no

Depending on the roof edge at the gable side, either there, or simply on the masonry with an arm, empty conduit through the wall. Then the ETICS around the arm, and the job is done. To be honest, I don’t want to do any big tricks there.

I think you don’t quite understand me or I have a misconception. Your ladder doesn’t have to reach the ridge, but to the gutter. And from there you cover the roof yourself or just have a company do it via MyHammer and mount the dish.
Nevertheless, of course the other option is smarter if you actually equip the entire south side with panels.
Regarding prices... the satellite system has relatively little or rather nothing to do with the actual electrical work. So you can also hire an antenna company and have them do it. That also saves one or two euros... Our neighbors did it that way and were actually about €300 cheaper than if they had taken the builder’s electrician.

Or you could skip all the SAT fuss and invest the money in more LAN sockets! After two months, I can't report anything negative, everything runs smoothly on 4k. I initially feared that 100Mbits wouldn't be enough, but currently we're doing fine! It would of course also be interesting to know whether a cheaper provider can keep up with Telekom, because if that goes wrong, you won't have any fun for two years!

I currently have IPTV and am actually very happy with a 100 Mbps connection. Also with an alternative provider to Telekom. Since it is the same connection anyway, I have no concerns.
