No RF system (whether Sat or terrestrial) can also mean poor reception. DVB-T can easily be fed into the Sat system, as well as FM and DAB+, i.e. radio broadcasting. In our house, we have such high attenuation through the walls that WLAN connections simply drop and DAB+ is only poorly receivable. With cable connections, you don’t have these problems if the antennas are installed outdoors. Furthermore, there are also converters from DVB-S2 to IP, but they still cost significantly more than a good LNC. In my opinion, the solution would be much simpler: Next to the multiswitch with two Unicable and several legacy outputs in the antenna box, lay one or two Cat6A cables, and if you want to be very generous, also lay a fiber optic strand to possibly retrofit a suitable server later. Streaming has latency of easily 30 seconds – many thanks also if your neighbor cheers at the next World Cup and you have to wait forever to find out why.Quick update: we are currently about 99% inclined not to install a SAT system. The decision will be made in the next few days, then I will post the result.
