Is a satellite system still necessary in new buildings, or is IPTV sufficient?

Or check with the municipality whether they know anything about an expansion. There is often a "Breitbandpate" there. I also find it important that citizens get in touch there, because only in this way do they receive information about the demand. Possibly, one then approaches one or the other funding program after all.

Well, understandable given the poor internet connection. But if you have a fiber optic connection, I would have a hard time understanding the use of a satellite dish anymore.

That would go beyond the scope and doesn’t belong here, but I am generally against monopolists who interfere in every aspect of life, listen in through microphones at home, know who knows whom and who buys or watches what when, and make more revenue than some countries’ GDP. What I find especially insidious is that this operator, with its internet omnipotence, forces companies to also offer their products in its marketplace. When these companies make too much revenue with certain products, the big operator forces them to disclose their sources and purchase prices and then offers these products itself. It’s incredibly convenient when you monitor all sales. This systematically crushes everything, and soon there will be only the one provider left, delivering to you by drone. The death of downtown stores is only the beginning. I avoid them where I can. And it’s actually going quite well. At least for now...

Oh, I see! Sorry, I thought purely in the context of streaming. I could have guessed you meant the other thing, but I was just too focused. Yes, that is of course off-topic and breaking the framework.

I consider that a very dangerous half-truth at best. Grounding and especially lightning protection for antennas – including offset antennas like those used for satellite – are a science of their own, which, in my experience, only very few electricians truly master, not to mention laypersons. As long as nothing happens, nobody cares, but the consequences can still be devastating in the event of an incident. For me, that is another reason to avoid satellite.

(I’d rather not ask about the corresponding implementation at .)

As already written, sometimes a set-top box is needed, I have already seen that, looked great.

Unless the provider offers the signal as DVB-C, then you're just happy if you get all the programs in HD without extra costs, which I have to pay anyway for reception. You pay for the satellite system once and then it's fine.
