As long as Telekom and 1und1 operate peering and thus throttle other small providers, this is not an alternative.
What also worries me is what the provider does if you watch a VOD movie daily and then there are 2 children who also load the network. Easily 500GB-1000GB come together and then they come up again with the stupid idea of throttling contracts.
Don’t worry, no one will throttle you because of VOD!
On the topic: We are building this year and I will not provide satellite. LAN everywhere is sufficient. TV will be watched via AppleTV4 and Zattoo. I wouldn’t want to switch HDMI sources anyway. Everything runs on one interface. TV, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, Tagesschau etc. Linear TV has lost importance anyway and in 10 years that will be even more pronounced. In 15 years, no one will be able to do anything with satellite (Internet generation).
If in 5 years a retired couple moves into my house, there is Sat2IP. Selfsat dish on the garage, connect to LAN and watch TV anywhere in the house.
