Is a satellite system still necessary in new buildings, or is IPTV sufficient?

I've been watching IPTV here for a while and honestly can't complain. It works and does its job. I'm still a bit torn about it, but somehow I find IPTV easy to use without much effort.

I also thought about it back then, but believe me, there are many reasons in favor. I'm very glad I did it.

Appearance? The dish usually doesn't even stand out. There are now many free HD channels. The private ones rarely bring anything useful anyway. The price of acquiring the equipment is almost nothing.

I would be very annoyed if I had decided against it back then.

I'm just trying to find the "speaks for it". The appearance is not really the... How many channels can you get in total, how many in HD? Does it all run through Astra 19.2 degrees East?

We also watch Netflix and co. 90% of the time, but for basic information I would always choose Sat. I also have a Sat connection on every TV. It works even if the internet goes out.

Yes, it all runs via Astra 19.2. I didn't even know myself that there is already so much in HD. Ard, ZDF Neo, ZDF, ARTE, NDR, MDR, WDR, etc. are all available for free in HD. But also Servus TV and some private channels are free. Otherwise, the argument is that internet streaming often still costs money, and if 3 people in the house watch in Ultra HD simultaneously, the bandwidth will probably get tight. But we also watch Netflix and series 80% of the time. Sports, documentaries, news, and in the evening the healthy portion of trash TV run via satellite.

So, let me play the smarty pants for a moment.
You pay enough money for the great channels with the GEZ fee.
They should introduce a new model here.
5 €/month for ARD, ZDF, and the regional third channel. Whoever wants more pays what everyone currently pays.
(One is allowed to dream)
