Is a satellite system still necessary in new buildings, or is IPTV sufficient?

Yes. 1&1 had it once, but due to the switch to their own product, it was removed there as well.

The Sky program also runs via Internet and Sky Go or you book individual "Sky Tickets". But there are quite often problems with major events. There were apparently major problems during FCB vs. BVB, as one has read.

Yes, there is a separate Sky app that runs accordingly everywhere. But I don't know exactly what it does.

Exactly. Otherwise, I wouldn’t see any problem watching Sky over the internet.

But if even at games like Mainz-Union and with a 400k fiber optic connection over LAN the picture is just pixelated for 45 out of 90 minutes, as in my case... Then I’d rather do it properly via SAT.

That's how it is. The costs for a SAT system are simply not worth mentioning. The added value you get, on the other hand, is enormous. If you are into live sports events, all other reception options are suboptimal. Nevertheless, you can use the video apps and IPTV and take full advantage. Why should you limit yourself and give up all possibilities? For the sake of appearance? Or because of the small (one-time) hundred euros? Certainly not.

Yes, exactly for that reason. But it goes in circles. Sky is a good reason. Sat is too expensive and too ugly for me. Therefore IPTV. All goals reached. I am as interested in football as I am in Tatort.
