Why do you think that SAT is still the best solution for TV reception? €10 per month or sometimes even much less (in the future it will probably get cheaper) at about 50 providers and you have Internet TV with HD channels. That's much easier, isn’t it? No one-time costs for the satellite dish, no unnecessary repair effort, no roof space is consumed, no ugly appearance... Of course, it always depends on the Internet expansion in the region. With fiber optic, I wouldn't even consider putting a SAT dish on the roof. Above all, everything today is moving more and more away from linear TV anyway... everyone watches media libraries and subscribes to additional services etc...

Problem with IPTV is that when the internet goes out, TV is also gone (this happens quite often). Satellite would continue to work. HD+ only costs about €6/month and you get almost everything. but especially for sports like Bundesliga or Formula 1, SAT is simply better less latency than IPTV (which is important for World Cup and European Championship) I also stream a lot of movies or shows that run on regular TV but sports is always watched live and SAT is actually better there. What does a complete SAT system cost, maybe max €1000, that is still manageable

Doorbells also have little to do with routers. I have such a button. When you press it, it goes ding dong. In the end, it is a bit more complicated, solved via a binary input that then enables playing tones or other actions. It can also be disabled at night, etc. I find video doorbells somehow not useful in single-family houses. They are usually extremely expensive and complex, and what do you want to use them for? I have also prepared cameras with network cables on the outer walls at the right height. Unfortunately, partly not quite the ideal spots. One could think a little longer about that. For example, that the cameras see each other well to prevent/record sabotage.

Come on - when does the internet ever go out? It happens just as often as your satellite not working due to weather. I've never understood the latency thing... a few seconds? Close the windows, then you won’t hear your neighbor screaming when a goal is scored... I think that’s a bit exaggerated :D You do realize this is about a maximum delay of about 30 seconds? But yeah... maybe some people have a problem with that.

Yes, but knowing for 30 seconds that a goal has been scored before it happens to you is really shitty

and in summer (when the World Cup usually takes place) it is warm and everyone has windows open for ventilation and to be able to go to the barbecue

@ we would like to see who is at the door before we walk over there

Ok, I will then open a separate thread for the two topics

In any case, thank you very much for your help with the network

I will definitely have enough LAN sockets installed and put the flush-mounted boxes for the APs

Which router and POE switch should I take from Unifi?
Is there anything else to consider with Unifi?

The modem is always provided by the internet provider

Can but does not have to be. It depends on the connection technology, provider, and personal preferences.

I can't say anything about the Unifi router and switch, since I still have a Fritzbox working as a router and a Zyxel one as a switch. I have only outsourced the Wi-Fi to a Unifi access point. Having everything from one manufacturer has the advantage that everything can be configured centrally via the controller software. I have to set up each device separately, but how often do you really change anything after the initial setup.
