The best thing is to simply say, "I don’t like that" – done. Otherwise, such statements only cause confusion, since a door to the kitchen actually wouldn’t be a problem.

It is probably due to the emergency you mentioned (all the best for that!) that your mind is elsewhere.

The floor plan from is great and basically eliminated all the crutches of your original floor plan.

The door to the pantry is also no problem, as has already shown.

I don't know how you come to the conclusion that you can't swap the children's room and the bedroom... of course not 1:1, you just have to make a little effort.

Maybe try to be a bit more open to suggestions? Otherwise, the creative minds here quickly lose interest (I am not one of them!).

If you lack imagination, it would be better to say so and ask if the children's room and bedroom could be swapped instead of saying that it won't work. Because that's nonsense.

I meant the kitchen as it is drawn now, so "cut off".

In general, I fear that if the outer dimensions are swapped and the garage is aligned with the house as here, we won't have any sun in the evening or only in the kitchen, where we stay the least. But I could be wrong...

I also find the floor plan quite good, but have concerns as just described.

Yes, I actually lack imagination, I have no feeling for things like that. Despite drawing and measuring everything... I admit that.

EDIT: my husband said about that, kitchen/dining/living not in a line, he likes this L-shape...

It is only an example of furnishing (I would say), the kitchen can be furnished in multiple variations of size and shape. You can also extend the kitchen along the bottom of the plan around the corner, with a corner window or whatever. You also don’t have to use the two French windows, you can replace them with a large window surface, etc.

I don’t see it that way, but if you want to imagine it better...ask Aunt Google about the sun path, there is a site where you can exactly display the sun path for your plot of land...for every time of day and season of the year.

That’s not bad. Then say so, express your concerns and ask, but don’t dismiss it with: "that won’t work". It probably will, you just lack the imagination.

Then you could almost "mirror" the ground floor.
