Is Ikea Faktum damping for doors available?

Hi Ikea expert,

phew, a set of four Pax hinges costs me 12€; if only two of them are soft-close, then for 10 doors I need five sets, which is a neat 70€... phew

If I replace everything with Integral hinges, that's another 40€ on top...

How much filing is needed, just the rounded edges? And only the first hole, or the second one as well? In the linked thread it seemed to be just the first opening.

For 10 doors, you need 10 INTEGRAL hinges, so 20 € plus shipping costs.

You only need to file the hole on the front to be square and only as you marked it. Using a square key file was very quick.

The hinges are just clipped onto the mounting plate in the cabinet, and on the door, you only have to open the cover. The hinge can be disassembled by unscrewing the screw and then pulling the parts apart. It really isn’t rocket science.

Oh, so they are compatible! I thought I would always have to replace both hinges. When filing, at the front meaning "only the upper one", or meaning in the direction "towards the cabinet opening"?

I looked at the hinges again to see how to take them apart. Somehow I’m too stupid, I would unscrew everything. Then I googled, so assembly instructions (you can tell quite well by that). I had to apply some force (both when bending and when positioning), but it worked! Now I want to evaluate if I do it like that everywhere. With the display cabinet it could be tricky (issue of applying force), but do you think that is generally problematic?

Front means closer to the viewer.

You can also modify the damper. My choice would not be that way, because then the damper can never latch as intended. It can rather lead to problems during assembly and disassembly.
I do not see in what way a display cabinet could be problematic. No significant effort is required to install the dampers.

THANK YOU for the video. That makes things much clearer now. Am I correct in understanding that with the disassembly the adjustment (tilt etc.) is not changed?

And just to be sure: You mean the green side (the one with the Blum logo), right?



I have now modified and installed two dampers, it takes some force but that’s okay. Disassembly is of course something different, but it was already said here: better to leave them in if in doubt. As long as the doors hang straight, I also see no reason to take them off. But I still want to try modifying it, especially with the cabinet.

I mean red and green, but only in "the top layer". If you disassemble the part, you can see to what extent the setting changes. Just do it, don't be too timid.
