No, seriously: Of course the mighty oak takes a lot of light when it is in leaf (is that the right way to say it?). On the other hand, it also provides a lot of shade. When I think of the mega summer of 2018, maybe not so bad after all.
Well, in winter there is hardly any light to begin with. So you have to do good lighting planning. That’s why I suggest planning windows everywhere possible, also in the north, east, south and west anyway. Wherever windows are possible, I would put some, plan surface areas precisely and use every corner.
