We also invested quite a lot of personal labor into the house. The "worst" thing is that doing the work yourself means you spend even more time on the construction site. That leads to even more ideas than you already have. Then, lying in bed at night, you discover something on your phone – I want that. So the next day is spent implementing such gimmicks. Here, quickly building a wall, there adding a few more sockets, and a second outdoor water tap would also be quite convenient. After 9 months, I had used up my annual leave and 400 hours of overtime. The weekends are on top of that.
We also planned a lot in advance at home, but being on site is still a different experience...
Great project anyway and good luck. Just don't overdo it and make sure to take a break sometimes.
The ideas are already flowing. That's why the porch and the blinds were added.
We would have liked flat roof tiles, but now we have to restrain ourselves.
