How does wall heating work? Are the pipes of the underfloor heating simply laid closer together to heat the wall? What build-up height do you need for that?

Wall heating = underfloor heating on the wall. Simply the same structure as on the floor (just without insulation). Then just plaster the pipes and, if necessary, tile.

This is not rocket science. That is why I am surprised that it is not installed more often in new buildings. Sure, that is also a cost issue. The heating surface becomes even larger and possibly the flow temperature could be further lowered(?). If the surface(s) could then also be used in summer to cool the rooms, that would definitely be more efficient than cooling only via the underfloor heating.

I don't find that surprising at all. It's simply a combination of "You are the first to ask after the heat load calculation," "I've never done that before," and "I do the underfloor heating the way I've always done it and nobody has ever complained."
