They are allowed. It is probably just easier on the street (due to turning around and more parking space). I don't think the parcel delivery person will break down the driveway gate.

I would first be interested in an exterior view.

Do you really want a hipped roof villa? I mean, that's actually kind of outdated now. If you want to be hip, you build 2 floors with a gable roof or super cool with a flat roof in Bauhaus style (please no Bauhaus definition discussion now).

Have some brochures sent to you from e.g. Rensch-Haus. They have relatively young Bauhaus-style designs in the catalog, you can learn something and above all spend money.

The development plan stipulates very little: But flat roofs are not allowed... Yes, we want hipped roofs

I firmly believe in you. If you think it should be an architect first, then that's OK.

Oh, always these boring hipped roof villas. Well, at least with a bay window on the slope. It will still be exciting. (I hope you don’t take everything too seriously. )

You know what?
Only 3 things from our original designs have survived
- Garage location
- House position
- Gable roof

Not even the room plan survived.

Go to the architect, take your room plan with you including your special features, like aquarium, bookshelves (there is probably at least one bookworm in the reading nook) and let him work.
We got some totally different designs out of it.
Position of old house or barn/slope oriented
Tower construction (basement, 2 full floors, gable roof, top edge of basement floor is about 1.2 m above street level)
Living upstairs with open gable, but no garden access

And don’t tell him your entire budget. Leave at least 20% out.
