I spoke yesterday with the chimney builder recommended by the general contractor (I will contact more). He said that a chimney starts at €8,000. Are they really that expensive? We would like something like this (see picture), just with an additional wood shelf.

Well, whether the one in the picture costs 8,000 or 6,000 euros is hard to say, but the order of magnitude is correct. Ours was even five-figure, but it has a particularly large insert, which also significantly determines the price. So if it is one with three sides, I believe the 8 K without question.

We both agree on that. The fireplace is a must. We still have plenty of reserves for upgrades, I just thought the fireplace would cost around 5-7.5k. I guess we'll have to reckon with 10k+.
