Don’t you find the wardrobe in the entrance area sufficient? How big would you make it?
About the garage access... Opinions on its sense and nonsense seem to differ. Homeowners who have one don’t want to do without it anymore (at least those we have spoken to).
- Getting kids in and out of the car while staying dry (>200 rainy days in 2018, I was surprised when I googled it...)
- Taking out trash/diapers to the garage
- Quickly grabbing something from the car you forgot without having to open the gate
Of course, the question arises whether it’s worth it, especially if it can’t be combined with the other things.
I just see the following problem. If I place the entrance near the garage (north) and keep the kitchen/dining/living room in the south/west, it inevitably results in a corridor... :-/
We also thought about replacing the platform staircase with a straight one and swapping the living room with the kitchen.
Wardrobe
You have shoes, jackets, hats hanging for 4 people
Door opens and you trip over shoes and bags.
Everyone has more than one pair in use anyway.
Stairs with a different shape, not straight, that takes up even more space.
Different arrangement of rooms so that the Tetris upstairs disappears
Door between garage and house is overrated. It's nice but not necessary
I have one. Your garage is too narrow for 2 cars anyway. You have to fully open the door for MaxiCosi and the like
New floor plan with a different house shape, different stairs, detached from the garage
