I don't find it so tragic how Steven is handling it. The old lady is attached to her land – who knows why, sentimental reasons (the first night of love under the bush down there on the right!), because she is an old farmer and land has a completely different value there or God knows what else. She obviously doesn’t need the money, but she’s attached to the land. So she won’t sell it while she’s alive. Therefore, Steven doesn’t have to deal with neighbors he doesn’t like during her lifetime. So it can stay as it is. The old lady is content and happy, and so is Steven.

But since in a certain age you simply have to expect the death of a person and if I were Steven and knew who would inherit, I would also get in touch with the heirs. Maybe they’re also attached to the land and would never ever sell it (first night of love under the bush but on the left), then it would be fine for Steven as well. But the girls seem to have chosen a bed, are living somewhere else now and have no connection to that piece of land and will sell it. Therefore, it is more than sensible in Steven’s situation to signal to the two: I would like to buy the land if it comes to that! It’s the best solution for everyone, including the old lady! She keeps her land her whole life and the heirs know in case something happens that they don’t have to offer the property somewhere else, but can handle it conveniently. And Steven keeps unwanted neighbors away and then has an awesome piece of land (and my envy *g*)

That’s why I made the “if” bold + underlined ....

The reaction is understandable!!!! ... there are cases where something like that is agreed on exactly like this and it’s simply disgusting (“hopefully he/she dies so I can finally sell it”)

The neighbor of a friend said exactly the same thing once.........

: what should the land cost, if I may ask?

No one benefits from "HOPEFULLY" she'll die soon said - you completely interpreted that yourself. Do you realize that?

Steven is obviously more than satisfied with the status quo and this state can continue forever. He has just made provisions for the time after. And that is legitimate.

That's exactly what you do when you transfer your house to your children and grant yourself a lifelong right of residence. You provide for the future (possibly to avoid inheritance tax), but you don't assume that you now have to die because of that!

Hello tumaa No idea. It hasn’t been discussed yet. But it is garden land. So not a plot. Also not land with building expectation. However, of course, I must not neglect the costs. I do think that investing money in land, especially here in the Düsseldorf catchment area, is not the worst option. And I have already considered refinancing. There are a lot of horse owners here. Made three to four paddocks out of it, I can branch electricity off from my house, a well can be drilled quickly, sewage is collected and picked up every now and then. I have already arranged stables: If it is portable, it does not require approval. Portable means it has to fit on a truck. How it gets there doesn’t matter. So: size of a shipping container and that’s that. Steven

Do you then realize that I said it is completely ok??? I don’t know the situation, he knows it better, if that is not the case, then everything is fine!!! That you immediately go on the defensive when something is questioned...... hmm

Why do you even feel compelled to question it? In my opinion, there was not the slightest reason for it.
