So what? Should we feel sorry now? I’ve learned that the children will (hopefully) pay our pension one day. If it gets too loud in old age, you can move into these fancy assisted living bunkers full of your own kind.

Nice that the old bastards were never children...

Mine are very loud too. The girl screams nonstop instead of talking. They also don’t interact but shout into the house if something’s up. To me, part of upbringing is teaching the child that they are not the only ones in the world. That you don’t have to scream all the time, and if you do, then only indoors. But if you only mean supervision instead of upbringing, then that’s incomprehensible to me. There probably is no basis for agreement there either. Yesterday I was lying in the garden on the lounger and put on music—so loud that I couldn’t hear them. The brat stood several times at the garden fence and shouted something with “...neighbors.” She practically screamed... I shouted back asking if I was too loud... after that, it was bearable. A neighbor without children once told me: playing children are calming, and she’s right about that. But there is a difference between playing and screaming. People in child care need to be able to recognize that! I don’t think it’s how it should be! Playing, yes; very loud, no. I can well imagine that doesn’t know the difference either as a father... no offense, but if you reflect on others (neighbors or your own children) then you pay attention to the difference.

But nerves in old age are not what they were as a child. You can understand older people when you yourself reach a point of resting your last days and spending your retirement, as beautiful as it may be. And you cannot lump all children together either. (I'm not referring to the TE's neighbor here.)

my child is well-behaved and shouting is not part of our manners. Whoever wants something has two legs. Still, children are louder than adults. It is a difference whether the child shouts through the garden MAMA ICH WILL and the mother shouts back CHARLOTTE STOP THAT or makes TATÜTATA sounds and plays firefighter. It feels like every second sentence here is not that loud. As long as it is okay for the neighbors, it’s fine. We actually feel more sorry for them because they see how we are stuck inside and are not allowed to help.

Especially as an older person, you should have the nerves and life experience to cope with it. In particular, since kids are usually only at home from noon/afternoon or on weekends. Retirees are more than welcome to spend most of the day in peace. If you want it to be quiet all the time, please book the apartment in the cemetery.

Yes, children are louder than (most) adults. But that's great when children are around. Even better if they are reasonably well-behaved and don’t constantly go overboard.
I would be much more annoyed by neighbors aged 20-30. They are really loud when you actually expect it to be quiet. Namely in the evening and at night. But no discussion is ever held about that.
