I mean I told the architect a dimension of 200x100 cm for the dining table and the couch at least 2.90 m wide. Would that relax the dining area a bit?
They seem to be 80 x 240 cm to me. The problem with four people is that not only you sit there in the evening with guests, but individual family members independently. When kids sit there with friends, you might want to do the household chores... then it’s already quite tight at an occupied table to rush back and forth several times there with a mop bucket and so on. There are dozens of such examples during a multigenerational stay in this house. It could become a constant annoyance. One has to be aware of that. Regarding the sofa and kitchen: at the moment it might be enough. But I know myself that over the years, for example in the kitchen, even a tidy or especially a tidy one, space will eventually not be sufficient. Annual decluttering is not enough – over time you HAVE more, you want it more comfortable, you change eating and preparation habits. It only takes a child to develop an intolerance, and suddenly you need an extra shelf/cabinet for alternative products. You are not planning a pantry now either, so one or two cabinets for supplies, kitchen appliances, and a freezer unit should be planned. And the argument "we manage without it at the moment" – then I say: then stay where you are now. Plan your 60 cm units for pots, dishes, glasses, cups, supplies, basic groceries, fridge, oven, Tupperware, appliances, and stuff: that adds up to several meters. The same applies to the sofa – truly annoying if the terrace door can’t open anymore just because you want to place a side table or floor lamp there.
What bothers me most is still the access to the utility room through the kitchen or living areas.
