Yes, we already have that in mind. That's why we have now rather decided on a 2m knee wall instead of 1.80m, so that it is not quite as extreme. I also quickly get basement feelings, even though I’m only 1.60m tall. However, I also find giving up windows for that suboptimal. One could perhaps still consider 2 full stories if it doesn't look too bulky...

I have to first thank you very much for your thoughts! I no longer feel so overwhelmed by the topic and will take a close look at each suggestion from you! :) By open staircase I mean that it is not surrounded on both sides by masonry or filled underneath by a storage room. I would like to be able to recognize the stair treads as such, so that it does not feel oppressive (to me). Meanwhile, I believe that any staircase can be made beautiful. Even a walled-in one, if at least daylight falls on it. So red pen... - freestanding tub: means for me that it is not surrounded by tiling, the oval tub recognizable as an oval tub. It can stand against a wall, not free in the room - no spiral staircase: any staircase is fine, but please no varying tread widths  - open staircase: see post above (no storage room underneath), walled-in I could still accept - seating window in dormer: seating window can be anywhere - just thought to kill two birds with one stone ;-) - walk-in closet: not necessary if there is space in the bedroom somewhere for a total of 3.50 m of wardrobe - office: must have because of home office - guest WC with/without shower (idea with shower because of missing children’s bathroom, waiver would not be a problem)

I really like the first floor plan from and , but also Katja's platform variant. The pantry and laundry room could appeal to me, we will test whether all the cabinets would fit in the bedroom with the large bed without a dressing room. I will definitely report on how it goes!

Since this example is "only" 150 sqm, you can still work a bit on the length/width. That also gives a bit more space in the utility room. The dressing room currently has just under 300 cm of wardrobe and 300 cm of depth-reduced wardrobe. I still quite like the floor plan, after all, it’s already from 2018 ;). Although all 3 variants still seem quite suitable for your situation today. My main focus is actually always the kitchen, kitchen/dining, etc. ... I come from the other forum for kitchens ;) ... and in all 3 variants I still support the intended kitchen constellation. What should still be checked with a layout that is wider than deep is the garage position. You can’t really tell the building window precisely from the site plan.

Here are a few more examples from the catalog that could be remodeled to suit your needs with little imagination.

The Heidi from Regnauer is specified with 177 sqm (12.50m x 9m) (street at the top of the plan). The problem here, however, is the missing HAR. It would be conceivable to move the guest WC to the other side and make the office correspondingly narrower.

The Medley 3.0 from Fingerhaus (street at the bottom of the plan). Specified with 172.73 sqm (11.05 x 9.25m), I find it almost perfect if you accept the openness. The complex utility room/guest WC swaps places with the office, and you can place it exactly like that.

The Rosenheim from Sonnleitner (street to the left on the plan) is similar in concept to the Medley – but the kitchen with pantry is in a different location. The office partition is already indicated. The air space becomes a sitting window, and the children’s and parents’ areas on the upper floor swap places.

How about more compact with 3 gables?:

Everything included in only 154 sqm.
