But you can hardly place the nest box on the gable. That's why I'm confused. Is it just about the seating window or the flat roof bay window or both?

That you would like to make the wishes about 10 sqm smaller makes the matter somehow even more difficult. What are you willing to do without?

I actually mainly like the exterior look of this upper floor bay window. I think that with a cladding (wood, facade panel) and a flat roof, the classic gable roof can look a bit more modern. Apart from that, I would like a window seat somewhere in the house and thought it would make sense to combine this. That was the original idea. At first, the children's rooms shared the bay window half and half and had no niches. The window seat was simply next to the staircase on the gable side. I don't even remember exactly why we changed that. It is not mandatory. If another solution is found to avoid the direct view from the couch into the messy kitchen, I am willing to compromise on anything. :) We could most easily do without the staircase (and I would also accept a window seat on the ground floor). The current floor plan is about 176 sqm, certainly okay in terms of size; smaller than about 165 sqm will surely be difficult, because we need an office.

I definitely thank you very much for your patience and suggestions! My mind is currently blank when it comes to solutions or new approaches. :-(

So with the window seat, it's more about the gimmick, or do you actually want to use it? I can only believe that it doesn't matter where it's placed if the only benefit is that you've seen it on Pinterest or Instagram and now somehow want it too. In case of doubt, I would cut out such gimmicks if they stand in the way of function or budget. I understand you, looks are important to me too, but they simply have limits.

Have you already been to the [K. Foru.m]? :)

I would actually want to use it as well. But since I see myself more on the terrace on the ground floor, the idea came up for the upper floor in bad weather. But I don't want it on the upper floor at any cost. I haven't managed to get to the K. For.um in terms of time, apart from registering.

Oh, there are so many approaches, new ideas. You don't have to reinvent the wheel for that, just simply go to the stairs. It is still too early for that. You have an unsatisfactory house design due to your changes. There's still more to be done :)
