Is a satellite system still necessary in new buildings, or is IPTV sufficient?

please forgive me if I haven't sifted through hundreds of pages. My basic question is whether you still consider a SAT system necessary or if you would just skip it altogether. About our profile: when we watch TV, it's exclusively public broadcasters and no private channels; however, mostly we watch on-demand, like Netflix, Amazon Prime & Co. Against this background, we are really wavering whether we can save the 850 EUR gross. What do you think? Just watch public broadcasters via stream over Apple TV, or is it still better to have a system installed?

I would still do it, but it is no longer a "must have" like it was 10 years ago. It also depends on how the internet connection is locally.

It is excellent, at least on paper with 1,000 MBit/s fiber optic from Telekom. How it looks in practice might be another matter...

With your profile, I wouldn't install a satellite system. Rather invest in the LAN and WiFi. That brings more overall. Fast internet is absolutely necessary. But 200 MBit and up is sufficient (depending on how many clients are streaming). A 1Gbit connection is enviable (if good upload and dualstack are included).

We faced the same question and decided against it. We also don't have a cable connection, meaning we have a risk if the only source fails. But there are also books

We are laying cable because we only get fast internet (400/40) there.
Telekom is being installed but no contract has been signed.
Additional empty conduit through the property and service duct in case fiber optic comes.
